چکیده
Recent advances in CCD technologies, processing speed and image understanding have been driving the development of the camera-based positioning systems. An improved performance of optical systems has triggered image based positioning methods to become an attractive alternative for applications in industrial metrology as well as for robotand pedestrian navigation. This paper provides a survey of current optical indoor positioning approaches. Different systems are briefly described and categorized based on how the images are referenced to the environment.

Indoor Positioning in High Speed OFDM Visible Light Communications
Visible Light Communication (VLC) technology using light emitting diodes (LEDs) has been gaining increasing attention in recent years as it is appealing for a wide range of applications such as indoor positioning. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has been applied to indoor wireless optical communications in order to mitigate the effect of multipath distortion of the optical cha...

In this paper we use UWB measurements for bandwidths up to 3GHz to present a framework for statistical modeling of the indoor radio channel propagation characteristics that are pertinent to precise indoor geolocation using time-of-arrival (TOA) estimations. Accuracy of indoor geolocation systems relies on the strength and TOA of the direct path (DP) in the channel profile. Based on UWB measurem...
متن کاملPassive RFID based Tracking and Localization for Indoor Navigation An Autonomous Passive RFID-Assisted Mobile Robot System for Indoor Positioning
Indoor positioning systems (IPS) locate objects in closed structured such as warehouses, hospitals, libraries, and office building, where Global Positioning System (GPS) typically does not work due to poor satellite reception. Inherently, indoor positioning is a vital challenge facing the industry for a long time. Most of the available IPS operate based on optical tracking, motor encoding, and ...
متن کاملEffects of Incident Angle and Distance on Visible Light Communication
Visible Light Communication (VLC) provides wireless communication features in illumination systems. One of the key applications is to recognize the user location by indoor illuminators such as light emitting diodes. For localization of individual receivers in these systems, we usually assume that receivers and transmitters are placed in parallel. However, it is difficult to satisfy this assumpt...
